ilhelm von Vnukov was born in 1980 in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
His great-grandfather was a renowned violinmaker and virtuoso musician. His multi-talented father, an engineer by trade, carries on the family tradition of violin making, and his mother is a celebrated painter.

Wilhelm was a child prodigy. He began studying music at the age of four, spending hours every day composing on the piano and violin. By 1986, he was accepted to Saint Petersburg's best music academy and he began to train with some of the most talented and famous teachers in Russia. He simultaneously studied music theory and classical composition, as well as violin and piano, from teachers at Saint Petersburg's University of Music. He showed signs of creativity and innovation from an early age. By 1988, he was developing new playing styles and techniques for the piano, which imitated other instruments and sounds of nature. Before reaching the age of nine he began giving public concerts on the violin and piano.

In 1995, Wilhelm graduated from music academy and one year later immigrated to Germany, the land of his ancestors. However, he always remembered his birthplace very fondly, and during his time in Germany he composed many romances, nocturnes and waltzes for piano and violin dedicated to Saint Petersburg.

In 1998, tragedy struck as Wilhelm suffered a career-threatening injury to his hands and fingers. However, he never gave up hope, doubling his efforts when practicing, and was able to transform this challenge into an opportunity by developing new playing techniques for the piano and violin. Many of the special techniques he uses today, such as his one-finger style for violin and his habit of performing the piano blindfolded, stem from this period and his discovery that physical limitations can be the key to unlocking new artistic possibilities.

While continuing to play concerts around the world, Wilhelm intensified his studies, training with virtuosos and world-famous teachers in Amsterdam, Paris, Cologne, Sydney and Los Angeles. It was during this time that he met virtuoso pianist Nicolai Neverovski, with whom he developed a deep and special friendship. The two have performed many concerts together that have amazed audiences around the world.

In 2002, after completing a Master of Arts in Music at New York University, Wilhelm moved to Taiwan, where he teaches at Yunlin University and is president and founder of the International Artist's Association. He frequently travels to universities around Asia to train some of the most gifted young musicians in Japan, Korea, and Taiwan. His students learn the secrets of his innovative techniques, including blindfolded performances and his recently developed "Chinese
Spirit Style" for especially complex piano works.

Wilhelm is acknowledged as one of the most talented piano composers of our time, frequently being compared favorably to Chopin because of the beauty and complexity of his works. He has written more than 2000 pieces in the classical style for piano (primarily nocturnes along with some waltzes, etudes and impromptus) and 100 pieces for solo violin and other instruments. He has played concerts around the world in locations as diverse as Bulgaria, Cyprus, Egypt, Germany, Malaysia, Syria, Taiwan, Tunisia, Turkey, and Yugoslavia, and has published 14 limited-edition CDs, as well as books on piano technique.

Those who have come into contact with Wilhelm know him as a romantic and passionate soul, of a kind rarely seen in modern times, who is willing to risk everything in the world for a dream. It is this unquenchable passion, his devotion to music and beauty, which has brought him this far in life and helped him overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles to achieve so much success. However, he is still missing something, without which everything else is meaningless: a true love to share his life with. Some wonder whether this, his search for love, is what has actually driven Wilhelm on his travels around the world. As a child, Wilhelm often had dreams of Asia. Could it be that his destiny is to find true love at last in Asia?
